The nerd world exploded with news on the internet that DC is considering making a sequel or prequel to Watchmen. Bleeding Cool was the first site to report the rumor and once it got out there message boards around the world couldn’t hold back the distain amongst the fanboys/gals. Threats of boycotting DC comics and the damning of DC’s Executive Editor Dan Didio could be heard in many comic shops and read on most message boards.
Many see the idea of another Watchmen book as more likely now that Paul Levitz is no longer the President and Publisher of DC Comics. He was viewed as the one of the forces who has stopped this from happening in the past. Now that he no longer holds that post this leaves DC open to pursue the project. If they do decide to move forward with another Watchmen book they will most likely need to look for another writer.
Watchmen scribe Alan Moore had a falling out with DC many years ago. Considering his repulsion for everything mainstream it seems unlikely that he take well to the idea of another Watchmen book. It is reported that he, along with original Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons, have the right of first refusal before DC can do anything with the Watchmen property.
While it’s easy for us all to sit back and scream “blasphemy” at the idea of this, I think we should all take a wait and see approach with this instead of bashing something that hasn’t been officially announced. Many in the fanboy nation say that they would never buy this book should it grace the shelves of their local comic shop, we all know different. Give it time. Wait until the book is announced and a creative team is set in place. Save the venom and anger for the many issues in the books that are out now.

I think its funny that I still have yet to read the first.
your not missing to much there mcnasty, its an ok read but its long and boring.
Nonsense!! Watchmen is great but even if you don’t like it you should give it a try. It’s a must read for all comic fans. Read it and judge for yourself. It was one of the first books I read that showed me that comic books aren’t just for kids.
